Mission Statement
The William A. Morgan Foundation was created to promote the preservation and maintenance of the natural environment for the public’s enjoyment and benefit, and to recognize the contributions of those individuals and organizations who share these goals.
History
The foundation was established in 2018 by the family of William (Bill) Morgan subsequent to his death that year. Bill’s dedication to the environment and Lake Tahoe in particular as a public servant first for the U.S. Forest Service and later the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency provided inspiration to those he worked with to proactively develop collaborative solutions. As is often the case, developing solutions to environmental problems and land use management conflicts can be very complex. Bill’s self-effacing management style was successful in resolving many of the conflicts experienced in the Lake Tahoe Basin over environmental concerns, and his success at the lake was used as a model for conflict resolution in many areas in the United States and around the globe. Bill believed all complex problems could be solved with the spirit of humanity and its collective ingenuity. The foundation seeks to inspire and recognize those attributes among the environmental community through its work.
