William A. Morgan Foundation

for Environmental Excellence

The William A. Morgan Foundation held its third annual celebration at the Carson Valley Country Club on October 6, 2023 in honor of local trail building organizations. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association, Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA), Carson Valley Trails Association, and Alpine Trails Association were honored during the event. Foundation President Craig Morgan noted, “The contributions and dedication of these volunteer organizations have been of tremendous value to their communities and the many visitors who enjoy the trails they build and maintain.” Morgan added, “As the number of residents and visitors to the Tahoe Basin and surrounding communities has grown, so too has the demand for access to the region’s public lands. Without the countless hours of volunteer work performed by these organizations, access and enjoyment of these lands would be constrained and many trails left unrepaired.”

Attending the event on behalf of the Tahoe Rim Trail Association were Veronica Palmer, Development Director and Anthony Porter, Communications Director. Also attending were Jess Smith, Chair of the Board of Directors for TAMBA, Kristine Koran, Trails Director for TAMBA; Juan Guzman, Director with the Carson Valley Trails Association; and Bill and Mary Young with the Alpine Trails Association. Attendees were treated to a Basque style dinner after which honorees were presented with plaques of recognition on behalf of the foundation.
